The Facts Behind Botox, Vistabel and Wrinkle Softening

money

While wrinkle softening is one of the most common non-invasive cosmetic surgery procedures in the UK, but it’s still important to seek the facts on treatment before undergoing any procedures. After all, the more you know about potential cosmetic surgery procedures, the better prepared you’ll be to make a decision that’s right for you.

To begin, you should familiarise yourself with some common terms in the realm of wrinkle softening procedures, as these terms will likely pop up regularly on your search for a suitable treatment. For instance, the treatment commonly known as Botox has now been formally approved for cosmetic use under the new name Vistabel. Vistabel injections – which are essentially injections of botulinum toxin type A – are now highly popular in the UK as treatment for wrinkles and facial lines, working by relaxing the dynamic facial muscles that cause wrinkles. The product is predominantly used around the eyes, forehead, and in between the eyebrows where many people develop a frown line, and it can be combined with other treatments such as dermal fillers.

The treatment involves an injection with a very fine needle, so it is painless to most people. What’s more, the appearance of lines and wrinkles is significantly reduced after just a few days of treatment. – depending on age and skin condition. The effects of the procedure last between four to six months. It can also last even longer after the procedure has been repeated a few times.

Many people enquire about possible side affects of the treatment, as well as precautions that should be taken before treatment. Immediately following the procedure, the treated area may appear slightly red or swollen; however, this is normal and should promptly fade. While it is uncommon, some people could also experience bruising. Yet one of the most common side affects of the treatment involves a drooping eyelid if, for instance, too much of the product is used. In the event that this should occur, patients can turn to a simple eye drop remedy that is easily available.

With regard to before or aftercare for the procedure, patients are encouraged to drink plenty of water a few days prior to treatment, to ensure that skin is sufficiently hydrated. Patients should also refrain from exercising or engaging in any vigorous activity within 24 hours after having the procedure done, as the injection will need time to settle. For the same reason, patients should never rub the affected area during those 24 hours. The procedure is generally not performed on those who are pregnant, breast feeding, or trying for a family.

Of course, these are just the basic facts behind Botox, Vistabel, and wrinkle softening. If you’re considering having the procedure done, it’s always best to speak with a professional at a cosmetic surgery UK clinic, as they can provide you with further details on whether the treatment is right for you.

Exercise Lose Weight and Look Your Best

health money

The unfortunate reality is that the majority of people are having a difficult time with their weight now and they are really not sure what to do about it. There is a group of people within this larger group, however, that have learned the secrets about how you can exercise lose weight and look your best without too much effort on your part. The reason most people don’t tend to get this, however, is because there is so much misinformation that is fed to the general public about weight loss and being healthy. Why is that?

Most of the information that you are going to read about being healthy or losing weight is going to be sent to you through one of the commercial weight loss companies. These companies may seem, on the outside, as if they really want to help you and that they are interested in seeing you lose weight. In reality, however, they are simply a business that wants to earn as much money as possible for themselves and their investors. If they were to help you to exercise lose weight and look your best, they would soon go out of business, especially if they gave you long term results.

That is why it is often necessary for you to forget everything that you’ve learned about weight loss up to this point in order to be successful and to lose your weight for the long term. In reality, it does not have anything to do with drinking diet shakes, eating special types of foods or buying the latest piece of exercise junk that you get off late-night TV. To put it quite simply, you need to watch what you are eating, eat a clean and healthy diet and get some exercise on a daily basis.

I know that doesn’t sound exciting and my particular way of weight loss does not come with beautiful people showing you their former fat selves. What I can tell you, however, is that the real way to exercise lose weight and get in the shape of your life has to do with calories. A calorie is a unit of energy and it if you are taking in more energy in the form of calories every day than what you’re putting out, the additional calories are going to be stored as fat. It honestly is that simple.

The only way for you to turn the tide on this is to reduce the amount of calories below what it is that you are burning on a daily basis. This can be done in two different ways or better yet, through a combination of two different things. You can reduce the amount of calories that you are eating every day by eating a healthy diet and you can increase the amount of calories that you are using by getting some exercise. Doing a combination of these two things makes it very easy for us to be at a 500 to 1000 calorie deficit per day which will help us to lose weight at a steady pace and keep the weight off permanently.

Cobra Update

money

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act was amended on December 19th, 2009 (ARRA). The ARRA has a provision that allows for the reimbursement of 65% of the premiums due to involuntarily terminated employees seeking to extend their health coverage under Cobra. Prior eligibility requirements allowed for this reimbursement if you were terminated between September 1st, 2008 and January 1st, 2010.

This eligibility period has been extended through to February 28th, 2010. Additionally, the reimbursement period has been extended from 9 to up to 15 months. If you are currently participating in the Cobra Subsidy program, this is a tremendous change for you. There are an additional 6 months worth of reimbursements that you are eligible for.

Please be sure and know your options for Cobra Continuation in the event you are involuntarily terminated.

Some things to consider when looking into Cobra:

  • 1. You have a 60 day grace period to elect to continue coverage
    • a. If you elect, you will owe the premiums back to your termination date
  • 2. You don’t have to take Cobra…weigh your options
    • a. If you’re not happy with your current plan…see #3.
  • 3. Explore alternatives. You have a 60-Day grace period to shop coverage.
    • a. Be sure to consider if you’re eligibility for the ARRA reimbursement. The 65% savings could make the Cobra Continuation a much more attractive alternative.
    • b. Georgia is a “non-guarantee” issue state, meaning the insurance company doesn’t have to approve you for health insurance if you aren’t healthy.
  • 4. You can only extend Cobra for 18 months.
    • a. There are special provisions that may allow for you to extend your coverage for up to 36 total months.
  • 5. Call a knowledgeable Advisor
    • a. There are dozens of plan options out there.
    • b. You will need to consider deductibles, co-pays, etc.

Hopefully this post doesn’t apply to you. However, if you or someone you know has recently lost their job, there is much to consider. Don’t make an uninformed decision or wait too long to act.

Acne Scar Removal – Getting Rid of Ugly Acne Scars

health

Thousands of people all over the world suffer from acne scars. These are unsightly marks caused by the skin’s attempt to heal an acne spot. How do you know for sure if you have acne scars or just acne spots? After the acne spot goes away (stops being red, inflamed, or painful), the skin begins the healing and remodeling process, leaving a red or hyperpigmented mark on the skin. If one of these marks persists for more than a year, you have an acne scar.

If you are one of the many people who suffers from acne scars, you might be looking into acne scar removal products or services. One of the best reasons to do this is not “selfish” – your health should always come before the opinions of others. Acne scars are often a source of low self-esteem, and acne scar removal can bring newfound confidence to people with even the worst acne scars. No matter the severity of acne scar, there are treatment options for all of them.

Some people would rather heal their acne scars themselves, because they are embarrassed or ashamed of seeing a dermatologist or doctor (or they have never gone to a dermatologist before). This option is good because you can do your research and find the best product for your skin type and the severity of your acne scars. Not all products are created equal, so do your research. To help get you started, see this list of the top 7 acne scar treatment options.

There are also measures you can take that are available at your local CVS. Try picking up some topical vitamin E cream and putting it on the scar. Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant, but it will not reach the skin through your diet. The only way to see a scar healing benefit from vitamin E is with topical vitamin E.

In most cases, it takes the skin up to a year to completely heal itself after an acne scar forms. This is known as the remodeling process. Don’t worry, your acne scar will become invisible with treatment in a matter of days or weeks, but deep down under the skin there is still invisible “damage”. To speed up this process, avoid sun exposure, use topical vitamin E, retinol A, and take supplemental anti-oxidants to dominate free radicals. You can start to get rid of your acne scars today, you have nothing to lose except those unsightly scars!

Natural Sinus Treatment Programs

health money

Natural sinus treatment programs are utilized by many, since they are very practical and easy to do. And with the rate of recurrence of sinus infections, these kinds of treatment are very well appreciated by those who have tried them. Most of them can be done at the comfort of your own home, without purchasing anything special. Some of them may seem unusual to do, but these have been proven effective in treating the sinuses.

Steam Treatment

Breathing in steam will bring moisture and heat into the sinuses. This helps in thinning out any hard mucus that stayed stuck in the nasal and sinus passages. The steam also acts to soothe the sinuses from the aches and pains of a sinus infection. Growth of bacteria can be prevented with this too.

To maximize the benefits from this natural sinus treatment, breathe in the steam through the nose, taking the steam deep into the sinuses. Do this for a few minutes, but stop if it becomes too much to take in, particularly if you feel it’s getting too hot for you. Steam can be taken in by getting it from a boiling pot of water on the stove, or from a very hot bath. Heating up a wet towel and placing it on your face can also serve to relax your facial muscles, bring down sinus inflammation, and relieve you of sinus headache. Adding essential oils like eucalyptus or peppermint can make steam treatment a little more pleasurable.

Sinus Irrigation

Sinusitis usually involves having unwanted particles in the sinuses, causing the swelling inside your nasal and sinus passages. Dust, molds, pet dander, and smoke are some of the irritants that can get inside your sinuses. These irritants can also bring with them infectious organisms like viruses, bacteria and fungi. Aside from these, mucus can also get stuck in the sinuses. So how do we get these out using a natural sinus treatment? Just like you have the option of brushing your teeth clean, you can also choose to clear out your sinuses of these particles.

A popular natural sinus treatment, sinus irrigation has been used for so many centuries, and has been helping so many individuals in fighting sinus problems. It involves the use of saltwater solution for rinsing the sinus and nasal passages. Simply inhale the solution into one nostril, then let the liquid out on the other nostril. This may sound like a difficult task for those who haven’t tried it, but there are a lot of people who have been doing this easily and regularly. Sinus irrigation may not be as common as brushing your teeth, but it is a good practice, especially for those who suffer from respiratory conditions very often.

Type 2 Diabetes History – Origins of Type 2 Diabetes

money

We all are familiar with the diabetes that seems to affect a lot of individuals all over the world. But we are for sure not familiar of its history and origin.

By far, diabetes has been one of the most devastating diseases known to the human race, and it has been recognized and well known for over two thousand years, but there is no history of type 2 diabetes, or any other differentiation between different types of diabetes, until the twentieth century came. It was not until 1935 that diabetes disease was discovered that there were multiple types of diabetes, and it could be said that this is where the history of type 2 diabetes truly began.

Roger Hinsworth made a very remarkable discovery in1935 that there were, in fact, two different types of diabetes. Those which were sensitive to insulin is called the (Type 1), and those that were not (Type 2). This breakthrough was finally made possible by the relatively recent discovery of insulin in 1921, and presumably came about when doctors noticed that insulin injections were having less of an effect on some patients with diabetes disease. In the 1950’s, a new medication was developed that is considered to be the beginnings of the history of type 2 diabetes treatments. Before now, there was no history of type 2 diabetes treatment whatsoever, so those with type 2 had to make due with simply using more insulin in hopes that their cells would absorb enough.

From then on, type 2 diabetes history pretty much ran alongside that of type 1. Urine strips were introduced in the 1960s, thus making it easier than any other time in the history of type 2 diabetes to detect the amount of insulin in the human body. This made it far simpler for people to manage and control their diabetes. In 1961, one time use syringes were introduced to the market, eliminating and getting rid of the need for the thick, durable early syringes that were had to be boiled to be cleaned, sharpened on a regular basis, and were prone and susceptible to developing painful barbs.

Ames Diagnostics created portable glucose meters in 1969 as a method to determine if an unconscious patient was diabetic or just drunk. Although these original meters weighed around three pounds, more recent technologies have reduced the size to that of a hand held calculator.

Insulin pumps, designed to mimic the natural insulin production of the human body, were created in the late 70’s, and were at first carried by patients as a backpack type setup. Technology has impacted these as well, and they are now small enough to clip onto a belt or pocket. Much more recently, oral medications have been released to the market that does the job of insulin pumps, making it so that a lot of diabetics merely have to take a pill to control their insulin.

With so much recent advancement in the medical world, it seems that it may not be too long before type 2 diabetes history comes to a close.

ERP Software Helps You Manage Overhead Costs

money

A major part of manufacturing costs are overhead costs. Broadly defined, overhead costs are costs related to manufacturing which do not add intrinsic value to the product. Some processes are value added and some are not. Some examples using production of balls are used as follows;

Taking raw rubber and manufacturing a ball is value added. Adding a team logo to the ball is value added. Packing the ball in an attractive display box is value added. Packing a dozen balls in a shipping crate is not value added. Inspecting the balls for flaws does not add value. Counting production at the end of a shift does not add value and adds overhead. In the office, printing, signing, and faxing a purchase order is non-value added. Holding a meeting to figure out a production schedule is non-value added. Anything that does not contribute to the manufacture of a product from one material state to another (Raw to WIP or WIP to Finished Goods) is non-value added. Rework, while it may save costs of making the item again from scratch is non-value added. Excess inventory, while not normally considered overhead may incur carrying costs, which are non-value added and therefore overhead. (The accountants my take issue on this one)

Now that we are through that long-winded explanation, how can ERP or Enterprise Resource Planning software reduce or eliminate overhead? The answer should be obvious; by eliminating or reducing the small mundane and expensive tasks that do not add value.

ERP software can be added directly to a process; Using ERP software combined with a bar code scanner, manual inventory counts can be eliminated. Parts are scanned and counted as they are produced. There is also a reduced chance for a counting error as well.

The bread and butter of an ERP system are the ability to not only plan a given part, but to fit it into a schedule is another way to eliminate overhead waste. With ERP, scheduling and planning meetings are reduced to confirming schedules produced by the ERP system.

In the front office, printing and faxing confirming purchase orders becomes a thing of the past. Purchase orders are confirmed with a few mouse clicks and some light data entry. The overhead costs also become a thing of the past.

On the accounts receivable side, ERP software can reduce overhead costs of billing. Instead of the accounting department entering data from bills of lading, materials can be scanned as they are packed and shipped. Invoices then can be generated based on the agreed terms and sent with minimal overhead labor.

While not a direct part of manufacturing, overhead costs never the less need to be controlled as closely as production costs. It does little good to make a product efficiently on the production line and then spend all of the profits administering to the packaging and distribution of the product.

ERP software manages overhead costs just as efficiently as it does direct production costs. The name its self states this; Enterprise Resource Planning. Are you ready to get on board?

Danger! The Wrong Employee Newsletter Articles Can Be Hazardous to Your Company’s Health

health money

Did you know that a well written informative article can actually be a hazard to your employee’s health? Here’s why. . . Imagine an informative article on “Compulsive Gambling” in your organization’s employee wellness newsletter.

What would you rather see–an article with 5 to 6 questions that helps an employee begin seeing that he or she has a gambling addiction, or an informative nice, long, exhaustive article that includes all 20 quiz questions from Gamblers Anonymous, so the employee with a concern really knows for sure if they have a problem?

Many freelanced-authored employee newsletters with long feature articles go for the whole enchilada–the 20-question option included–and, as a result, “over-educate” the reader. It’s a big mistake. And it can expose your organization to greater risk. Did you think it should be just the opposite? It’s not!

After 20 years of writing workplace newsletters for work organizations, I have learned that the best approach is to have only 5-6 questions in this type of wellness article.

But why? Isn’t that a disservice to the reader? How underhanded you might think.

No! An article that discusses a health problem that includes strong components of denial is better able to help an employee or point the employee in the direction of solving the problem if it gives enough information to create a sense of urgency that motivates the reader to take action.

Too much information can undermine the desire to take action. A shorter, less informative article permits the author to motivate the reader to hunger for more information, and possibly get help for the personal problem–whatever it might be. In the above example, it is compulsive gambling.

The goal of such an article should be to motivate the reader to follow the instructions within the article to the next step. In other words, articles in wellness and EAP-type newsletters are not entertainment. They are sales letters!

Unfortunately, the risk is great that the more information an employee has about a personal problem, the more likely it is that he or she will become educated enough to self-treat the problem or (at worst) add to their intellectualizing to avoid treatment, perhaps with a dose of added willpower thrown in to control symptoms.

Intellectualizing about a personal problem is the most difficult defense mechanism for professional helpers to penetrate. Of course, self-diagnosis is a good thing, but with diseases prone to denial, and in the absence of a professional steering the decision to accept help, defense mechanisms can overwhelm decision making because they are so ingrained. When this happens, employees often pursue self-treatment or partial cures, if at all. And they may never go see a professional helper!

The result? RISK!

Have you heard the catchy phrase associated with advertising that says, “Be sure to leave them wanting more.”? This sums up my point.

When informative health articles provide only a measured amount of information and leave the employee “wanting more” with instructions on how to get it, it is easier to motivate the employee to get help–and professional motivational counseling can increase the likelihood of proper treatment being accepted.

Hopefully, an employee assistance program is available to your organization and it is one that knows your work culture well. A newsletter is an excellent tool, and a vital one frequently missing, and the cause of a poorly functioning employee assistance program.

Long articles with lots of information decrease utilization of an employee counseling program and increase behavioral exposure for the work organization. When it comes to problems like violence in the workplace, prevention could be as simple as an article on anger management that prevents an employee from a horrible act.

Articles in employee newsletters are loss prevention tools. The goal should be not to just create better employees, but to create better people. Your company’s employee newsletter has power. Use it to maximize the help employees receive and the good it does for the whole organization, even society along with your bottom line.

Insanity Fit Test Review

money

Shaun T’s INSANITY is justifiably feared by many. Feared and respected, because it has earned the reputation of being the most difficult fitness routine on DVD, pushing people past their max with every session, and consequently delivering phenomenal results at the end of its eight weeks. However, the creators of INSANITY and Shaun T himself both are emphatic that you should only try INSANITY if you are already of a certain fitness level. This is not a program for beginners or those with injuries, and in this article I will try to demonstrate why, having just undergone the INSANITY Fit Test yesterday. So consider this a live review from somebody whose muscles are still aching.

Shaun T’s INSANITY program comes with a Fit Test, which is included for two main reasons. The first is the most obvious, which is that it provides you with an excellent means of gauging your progress throughout the program. You take the Fit Test every two weeks, and by tracking how much you improve on the test you are able to gauge how you are improving over-all. Thus it provides you with a set of metrics that are objective to your own fitness level, give you something to strive to beat, and encourage you as you begin to exceed your own records.

The second reason is slightly more subtle but just as important, if not more so. It’s a fact that people are competitive, and men especially tend to react when told that a fitness program is too tough for them by desiring to prove everybody wrong and undergo it. However, this can lead to disastrous results if one is simply not in sufficiently good shape to perform the routines. The consequences of undergoing INSANITY if you are not prepared ranges from simply burning out early on as you grow disillusioned with yourself and your inability to perform and keep up, to the far end of the scale where you injure yourself badly or aggravate old injuries by stressing them too much. It is specifically for this reason that everybody is urged to be get their doctor’s approval before beginning this routine.

The Fit Test itself takes thirty minutes, something that I drew comfort from going in until I realized just how intense those thirty minutes were going to be. It begins with a warm up that serves as a good warning-the warm up itself is challenging and should get your heart hammering before the test even begins. If you’re already feeling unsteady or light headed by the end of the warm up, I’d advise that you seriously reconsider your state of preparation.

From there, Shaun T leads you through a number of tests. Each one comprises of one motion repeated as many times as you can within one minute. Thus you have to go full throttle and do as many Suicide Jumps or Switch Kicks as you can. There are eight exercises in total, and by the end of the test you are guaranteed to be dripping in sweat. Don’t let the fact that this is meant to provide you with benchmarks fool you into thinking that it will be less challenging; in fact, it’s incredibly intense, and definitely gave me a taste of what I’m going to be in for these next two months.

So wish me luck!
